Abstract : Nowadays, two phenomena are spreading fast in the field of technology; Chat GPT and AI. They are not limited to one field but open out to all other different professions and occupations. The advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ChatGPT has precipitated a transformative shift in the accounting profession, bringing both significant benefits and notable challenges. This paper explores the dualistic nature of AI in accounting; weighing its potential as a blessing against the risks it poses as a curse. On one hand, AI enhances efficiency, accuracy, and productivity through automation of routine tasks, real-time data analysis, and advanced predictive capabilities. These advancements allow accountants to focus on strategic decision-making and advisory roles, thus elevating the profession. On the other hand, the integration of AI raises concerns about job displacement, ethical considerations, data security, and the erosion of traditional accounting skills. This paper critically examines these dynamics, providing a balanced perspective on how AI and ChatGPT are reshaping the accounting landscape. This review paper examines whether ChatGPT and AI are a blessing or a curse, especially for various branches of Accounting. Whether these technologies make human efforts easy or even replace them? For the answer to the questions, the researcher had an interview with Chat GPT and its replies are mentioned over here. Further to draw a clear picture of these technologies, some basic information like the origin, concept, and future of these technologies with accountings is mentioned in the present paper.
